THE PROBLEM

While cotton is a natural fibre that can biodegrade at the end of its life, it is also one of the most environmentally demanding crops. Our use of conventional cotton comes at a huge and unnecessary cost: growing cotton unsustainably, with massive inputs of water and pesticides, has already been responsible for the destruction of large-scale ecosystems and the deteriorating health and livelihoods of people living there.

Just 2.4 percent of the world's arable land is planted with cotton yet cotton accounts for 24 percent of the world's insecticide market and 11 percent of the sale of global pesticides. 73 percent of global cotton harvest comes from irrigated land.

WHY CHOOSE ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals, leaving the soil, air and water free from contaminates that cause harm. Organic cotton produces around 46 percent less CO2 compared to conventional cotton. It also uses far less water to grow since organic cotton growers typically utilize rain far more than irrigation.
